Some time ago, i created a little tool that would allow you to look up the publicly available data from the NA-LiveStatus website, so you don’t have to tab out of the game / dual monitor / use another computer.

I so far haven’t been able to get a definitive quote from NCSoft. However, since the application does exactly what a web browser does - load a page and display it, albeit limited, declaring this utility as a violation of the ToS is pretty much declaring any web browser usage during playing Aion as a ToS violation. I’m still chasing them, but here’s the goodie.

How does it work ?
Simple. Download the ZIP file, it has only a 21kb big application in it. Modify the applictions’ settings to make it stay always on top. It will query the NCSoft webserver for the player information and display the most important bits to you. The application is semi-transparent, so you’d be able to see the underlying screen to shine through it.

How to use it ?
I’ve taken some screenshots to illustrate how it works, it’s pretty simple and there’s nothing really fancy to it.
As you can see, the application itself is quite small in size, so you can easily move it to a convenient screen location. You may choose to limit your search to a single server, or choose to search over all servers at the same time. Most of the time, you’d be searching on your own server, though. Since the application does not interfere with the running game at all and is completely independant, you need to select the server manually. The small button next to the textfield can be used to expand/collapse the display, so that the tool doesn’t take up any more space than required when not needed.

As soon as you hit ENTER within the name textfield, the display will expand and the query will be sent against the webservers. Should there be more than one match found (remember, the search logic is from NCSoft’s website), then a dropdown will be displayed with all possible choices. You can simply select any of the listed characters, and the data for that particular character will be extracted from the website and displayed on the screen.

Data that’s available is the Race, Class & Level of a player, along with his current equipment, weapons, the manastones socketed and the basic stats of the player as far as HP, MP, Attack, Speed, Magical Accuracy/Boost/Resist and all that. Finally, it will also display his Abyss Points with his total kill count.
